PalmaRafael Nadal will be proposed as a member of the Board of Directors of Real Madrid next Saturday, November 21st. The appointment must be approved by the General Assembly of Delegate Members, as reported by the white club in a statement, although, as they point out, it is a mere formality and the Mallorcan will become part of the board presided over by Florentino Pérez.

"The Board of Directors of Real Madrid C.F., meeting today, Wednesday, November 4th, has agreed to submit for the approval of the General Assembly of Delegate Members the ratification of the appointment of Rafael Nadal Parera, member number 67,778 of our club, as a new member of the Board of Directors," the statement announces. Nadal was already an honorary member of Real Madrid. The club describes the tennis player from Manacor as "one of the greatest legends in the history of sport and one of the most admired and recognized Spanish athletes worldwide."

"For Real Madrid and for all madridismo, it is an enormous pride that a figure of his sporting and human dimension, a benchmark of Spanish and world sport, will become part of our Board of Directors and contribute, from this responsibility, to the present and future of our club," it adds.

Furthermore, they have highlighted the link between the "values" of Rafael Nadal and those of Real Madrid: "His figure represents much more than his achievements: his talent, his spirit of permanent self-improvement, his capacity for sacrifice, his competitiveness, his humility, his respect for rivals and teammates, and his solidarity commitment make him an example on and off the courts."

"All these values are part of the identity of Real Madrid and Rafael Nadal has represented and defended them throughout his entire sporting life, and he has become a benchmark for millions of people around the world," it concludes.
