Pere Carbonell wins the Vila d'Ascó prize with a novel set in Mallorca
The Night of Culture of Ascó also recognizes works of poetry, youth narrative, photography and micro-stories in an edition with more than 350 participants
Vila d'AscóThe writer Pere Carbonell has won the 38th Vila d’Ascó Literary Prize with the novel Bombolles de xampany, a work that combines satire, acid humor, and criticism of personal relationships in the context of a party night.
The story unfolds around three recent graduates who decide to go partying in Mallorca. What begins as a celebration ends up turning into a night marked by excess, where appearances are broken and secrets, accumulated tensions, and betrayals that test their friendship come to light.
With this premise, Carbonell builds a narrative focused on the fragility of human bonds and how a single night can completely alter the perception the characters have of themselves and others. The novel stands out for its provocative tone and its critical look at youth, social relationships, and the limits of loyalty among friends.
The award is endowed with 3,600 euros and includes the publication of the work by Grup 9 Editorial, thus consolidating the author's recognition within the literary landscape of the competition.
In this edition of the prize, which is part of the Nit de la Cultura d’Ascó, other awards were also presented in different literary and artistic disciplines, such as poetry, young adult fiction, photography, and micro-stories. In total, the call for entries received more than 350 works, consolidating the competition as a prominent event in the cultural scene.
