PalmaPalma hosts this Friday, September 11, the free concert by Rels B, one of the central events of the Mallorca Day. The Mallorcan artist will perform starting at 9:30 PM in the area of Parc de la Mar and the Paseo Marítimo, in a concert co-organized by the Consell de Mallorca and the Palma City Council. Access will be free until capacity is reached.

The forecast of a large influx of the public has forced the deployment of a special security, traffic, and public transport plan. The main recommendation is to avoid private cars and arrive at the concert on foot or by public transport.

When and where is the Rels B concert?

  • Day: Friday, September 11th
  • Time: 9:30 PM
  • Location: surroundings of the Parc de la Mar and the Paseo Marítimo of Palma
  • Admission: free, until full capacity is reached

The concert venue is the area between Parc de la Mar and the Passeig Marítim, in front of the Cathedral.

The concert is part of the Diada de Mallorca events and is held one day before Rels B is named Favorite Son of Mallorca, on Saturday, September 12th.

What time is it advisable to arrive?

The organization has not established an opening time for a ticketed venue, as access is free until capacity is reached. Therefore, if you want to ensure access, it is recommended not to wait until the concert start time and to arrive with sufficient time.

A high turnout is expected and the special security arrangement will include Local Police, Firefighters, private security, and medical assistance during the event.

Which streets will be closed in Palma?

The main impact will be on Adolfo Suárez Avenue.

From Tuesday until Saturday, the right lane of this road will be occupied in the section between Gabriel Alomar Avenue and the entrance to the Parc de la Mar parking lot.

In addition, Adolfo Suárez Avenue will be completely closed in both directions between Gabriel Alomar Avenue and Antoni Maura Avenue during two periods:

  • Friday, September 11, from 3 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 12.

The same restriction was also active between 8 p.m. on Thursday the 10th and 2 a.m. on Friday the 11th.

During the closure periods, the exit from the Parc de la Mar parking lot towards the highway will also be closed.

Will it be possible to arrive by car?

It is not recommended. The main road access to the concert area will be affected by road closures and, furthermore, the exit from the Parc de la Mar parking lot will be restricted during peak hours.

For this reason, the organization recommends de facto opting for public transport and avoiding travel by private vehicle.

What will happen with the EMT?

The cuts will force a modification of the service for several EMT lines.

Line L25

The L25 will run diverted during the closure periods via Porta del Camp, Avingudes, and Plaça de la Reina.

Stop 1982, Parc de la Mar-Catedral, will be temporarily suspended.

The diversion will be applied on Friday, September 11th, between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday the 12th.

Line L30

The L30 will be cancelled during the closure period of Adolfo Suárez Avenue.

This will be the case from Friday, September 11 between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday the 12th.

Therefore, if you usually use the L25 or L30 to reach this area of Palma, it is advisable to check the changes before leaving home.

Will there be trains after the concert?

Yes. This is one of the best alternatives to return home if coming from outside Palma.

SFM has scheduled seven special night services on the Palma-Manacor and Palma-sa Pobla lines, in both directions, in addition to a special train between Inca and Palma. The special trains will stop at the intermediate stations.

Attention if you have to take the metro

SFM has also reported that this Friday six metro services on the line between the Intermodal Station and Parc Bit will be cancelled due to repair work on the catenary affected by the storm. Therefore, if the trip to Palma involves combining train and metro services, it is advisable to take this incident into account.

How to get to the concert?

If you are in Palma

The best option is to go on foot or by public transport. Parc de la Mar is right next to the centre of Palma and the surroundings will be heavily affected by the traffic arrangements.

If you are coming from outside of Palma

The train is one of the most comfortable options, especially for returning after the concert, thanks to the special SFM services during the early morning.

If you want to go by car

It is not the recommended option. Adolfo Suárez Avenue will be closed in both directions between Gabriel Alomar and Antoni Maura from 3 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the exit from the Parc de la Mar parking lot towards the highway will also be affected.

What security measures will be in place?

The Council has prepared a device with the Palma Local Police, Firefighters, private security and healthcare service throughout the concert. SFM will also reinforce the railway service during the night.

The concert assembly will exceed 350 professionals. The stage will be over 16 meters high and there will be six 12-meter towers for sound and lighting equipment, in addition to more than 300 square meters of screens and special effects.

Why is Rels B holding this concert in Palma?

The performance is part of the Diada de Mallorca events and is the major celebration prior to the appointment of Rels B as Favorite Son of Mallorca, which will be made official on Saturday, September 12th.

Daniel Heredia, Rels B, is one of the Mallorcan artists with the most international projection and has consolidated over the last few years a career that has taken him from the Mallorcan urban scene to becoming one of the most prominent names in Spanish urban music.
