Sa Rocketa celebrates the 24th edition with Les Testarudes, more than twenty proposals and the last year of Cucorba

PalmaSa Rocketa Festival will celebrate its 24th edition next Saturday, October 3rd, with a day that will bring together more than twenty artists and collectives at Factoria de So, in the Son Llaüt industrial estate in Santa Maria del Camí. The festival, with free admission, will begin at 5 PM and will combine live music with family-friendly proposals, electronic music, sound system culture, correfoc, percussion, a street market, and food stalls.

The organization invites the public to arrive early to enjoy the programming from the very first performances and champions the associative and popular character of an event that remains free. The main musical attraction of this edition will be Les Testarudes, a group that combines ska, reggae, and rocksteady and will arrive at Sa Rocketa with their first full-length album, Ai, mare!, after having presented their music on stages across the Islands, the country, and Europe. The musical lineup will be completed by Balkan Bus, Trimoni Garage, Grollers de sa Factoria, Caricias Cantoná, Ta Panta Rhei, Disnòmia, La Ràbia, Tebals, Magma, Desydia, and Coanegra, in a combination of styles that includes rock, punk, garage, ska, reggae, roots music, and Balkan sounds.

The last year of Cucorba

Family programming will have a special prominence with Cucorba, which is experiencing its final year on stage. The group, which has provided music for several generations of children, will perform at Sa Rocketa before bringing its career to an end.

There will also be a performance by Ànimasound, with a proposal based on music, rhythm, and the participation of the little ones. Furthermore, Cucorba will return to the stage at a second moment, as a guest of the Grollers de sa Factoria. Both groups will recover some of the songs that have accompanied the childhood of several generations, now reinterpreted with the festive energy of the Grollers so that the audience can sing and dance along to them.

Electronica, hip-hop and sound system culture

The Electronic Clastra will host the sessions of Kolauw, Lorhen, Alles, Darocha, and Two M. Before that, the Outown Showcase will bring together Deluigi and DJ Triqui, who has accumulated almost four decades behind the decks and maintains a career linked to hip-hop and the Santa Maria music scene. Both artists will offer a masterclass on participatory breakbeat and live mixing, which will be recorded in a format inspired by Boiler Room sessions.

Another of the festival's spaces will be the Dub Corner, dedicated to reggae, dub, and sound system culture. The space will be sound-engineered by King Mufasa Soundsystem and will feature performances by Mufasa Crew, Rebel Vibes, Malaika, and Skankin’ Brothers. The day will also include the participation of the Batucada Saravà, which will bring percussion throughout the different areas of the venue, and the traditional fire run, starring the Dimonis de Factoria de So and Ànimes de So. The program will be completed with a market and various food stalls.

A self-managed festival

Sa Rocketa is a festival promoted by the Factoria de So Association, a non-profit entity, and maintains free admission thanks to a funding model based on the revenue generated during the event itself.

The bars, food stalls, merchandise sales, and voluntary contributions to the resistance fund are the main sources of income with which the organization covers the festival's expenses. Since there are no ticket sales, the association considers these contributions from the public an essential part of guaranteeing the continuity of the event. For this reason, the organization encourages attendees to consume within the festival, buy merchandise, and contribute to the resistance fund. The project also has the help and collaboration of the Santa Maria del Camí City Council.
