PalmaThe Governing Council has approved this Thursday the draft law on the regulation, protection, and comprehensive management of the coastline of the Balearic Islands. This was announced by the president Marga Prohens, and the Minister of the Sea, Juan Manuel Lafuente, at a press conference in Ibiza. As reported by Europa Press, the regulations provide for the protection of traditional constructions in these areas, the limitation of the speed of boats and the streamlining of procedures.

The text must be definitively approved by Parliament. The PP does not have the guaranteed support of Vox, and therefore will have to initiate negotiations with the far-right. The regulation aims to protect constructions such as sidewalk houses. It also aims to streamline the processing of activities carried out in public maritime-terrestrial domain, in addition to limiting the maximum speed allowed for vessels over twelve meters in length and for jet skis to ten knots when navigating within one mile of the coast.
