The Cossiers of Montuïri dance and honor, for the first time, the Cossieres
The Cossieres had never been part of any tribute or distinction from the Montuïri City Council.

PalmSatisfaction, recognition, and pride in having been Cossieres. These were the words expressed by the four Cossieres women who received, on Saint Bartholomew's Day, a visit and dance from the Cossiers of Montuïri.
The proposal arose at the express request of the mayor of Montuïri, Paula M. Amengual, who asked the Cossiers group to recognize and distinguish the four Cossieres women who remain alive in Montuïri. Francsica Xamena, Joana Xamena, Francisca Verger, and Catalina Mas are the four Cossieres who danced and became Spanish champions in Madrid in 1956.
Thus, this Sunday, Saint Bartholomew's Day, the four residents received a visit from the Cossiers. The satisfaction was immense for them and their families, who saw a small, significant recognition after years of silence regarding their intervention back in 1956. We must remember that among the photographs in the exhibition of the 275th anniversary of the Cossiers in the town also appears an image of the dance these women performed in December 1956.
The reason is that until this Sunday morning, the Cossiers had never been part of any tribute or distinction from the Montuïri Town Council. Paula M. Amengual, mayor of the town, has pointed out that "it was a small gesture that has a great symbolic and historical value both for them and for the people of Montuïri. It is a mania of mine that I wanted to fulfill before leaving the mayor's office and this San Bartolomé has become a reality. We hope that from this year onwards more of the women will dance the Cosas.
The sisters Xamena, Catalina Mas and Francisca Verger have happily received the visit of the Cossiers and from above the portal of their house they have presided over each of the dances that they have performed. They all have fond memories of that trip to Madrid in 1956, which allowed them to leave Montuïri at a time when women did not have it easy at all.
The rest of the San Bartolomé day has passed normally with the capture of the dancers and the usual dances ofOffer or the Marquensó, among others.
Verbena
On Saturday, there were a large crowd following the Cossiers' route. Thus, from the start of the procession through the streets of the town at 6:30 p.m., the return lasted until two o'clock, when the Cossiers arrived at the Plaza Mayor.
It's also worth noting that, just as the devil who debuted last year was still seen in a state of restraint on August 15th, on Saturday he was seen enjoying himself and having a great time at the festival, a fact that made the return more fluid and dynamic.
