Vox votes left-wing to reject the government's salary increase
Sources from the far-right party defend the decision for "coherence."

PalmVox has joined forces with the left to defeat the Catalan government's salary increase in the first session of the debate on the entire budget agreed between the PP and the far right. The far right voted—according to sources within the party, "for consistency"—in favor of an amendment by MÉS for Mallorca to prohibit senior executive officials from receiving bonuses for attending board meetings. The PP ultimately opted to vote in favor of the amendment, even though it already knew it would be successful.
With this decision, Manuela Cañadas's party has voided an agreement with the Catalan government not to support any left-wing amendment. It was the main surprise of the first session of the parliamentary debate, which went preceded by the Land Acquisition Act"You have forced the PP to pay before approving the budget," said Lluís Apesteguia, MÉS spokesperson for Mallorca. This is how he summarized the agenda for Monday, during which Vox demanded that this regulation be approved before debating the budget, a way to ensure that the PP would not back down when it came to introducing the far-right modifications to the regulation, which involve issues such as reclassifying transitional areas on rural land.
The PP (People's Party) has defended the pact through spokesperson Sebastià Sagreras, who argued that the government has engaged in a "legislative sprint" in recent months. "We are brave because we have budgets, but I am also deeply proud of a government and parliamentary groups that have rolled up their sleeves to negotiate from day one," he said. Among the measures approved this Monday are those related to the Ministries of the Presidency and Tourism, which include issues such as the repeal of the Memory Law. Sagreras boasted about the budgets that, in his opinion, "reverse the Armengoline policies," referring to the management of the previous government. The PP, he insisted, has "budgets and policies" in the face of a PSOE with "chaos" and "corruption," he said, recalling the Cerdán case, which has impacted the PSOE leadership.
In turn, Cañadas has boasted about his group's amendments that are expected to be approved in the coming days, such as some that promote birth rates, introduce tax deductions for owners of occupied properties, and reduce taxes on inheritances during lifetime. He also defended the reduction in inheritance tax: "And what justice is there to punish family generosity?" Prohens" and insisted that "none of the commitments" to curb mass tourism that he announced during the general policy debate are reflected in these accounts (Vox is against it). "The Government will have budgets at the price of abandoning the space for moderation, weakening the Community, and straining coexistence," he stressed. xenophobia, climate denial, contempt for Catalan, and sectarianism."
The spokesperson for MÁS por Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, asked the PP for a position on its amendments to increase the sustainable tourism tax or eliminate bonuses for its senior officials in the Government, instead of ". (Más por Menorca) has denounced that the accounts "take" four million euros from the financing of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Law.
