What are the most common bites and how to act?
Mosquitoes, wasps, bees, jellyfish and spiderfish are the most common.

BarcelonaMost summer bites don't cause health problems, but it's still important to be vigilant. This is the advice from Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
Mosquito bite
It's best to apply cold to the affected area. Early morning and late evening are when they sting most. It's a good idea to wear light-colored clothing and, if possible, cover your entire arm and leg. Regarding the use of repellents: they are not recommended when the concentration is higher than 10% for children under two years old and on broken skin.
Bee and wasp stings
When these insects sting, the most effective way is to remove the stinger if it's a bee, without scraping the area or pressing the venom sac. Wash the area two or three times a day with soap and water. You can also apply heat to the sting, as it destroys the toxin. If the pain is intense, you can take a painkiller, and if itching occurs, take antihistamines or a topical corticosteroid to reduce inflammation. If you have allergies, always carry an antihistamine or adrenaline to administer in case of a sting.
Jellyfish Sting
First of all, wash the area with salt water or saline solution without rubbing. Above all, do not use fresh water, as rubbing or scratching the wound worsens the symptoms. It is also necessary to remove the tentacles with tweezers, obviously protecting your hands, and apply dry cold (ice with a cloth over it) for 10 minutes.
If the pain or itching is very intense, oral antihistamines, analgesics, and topical corticosteroids can be administered. If all these measures do not improve the pain, you should consult a doctor immediately.
Spiderfish bite
To treat a bite, soak your foot in warm (but not stinging) water for 30 to 60 minutes, as heat destroys the venom. This will clean and disinfect the wound and remove the thorn. Never use tourniquets or cuts, and if you experience severe symptoms, see a doctor and check your tetanus vaccination status.
When should you see a doctor if you get bitten?
You should seek medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, rapid or labored breathing, swelling anywhere in your face or mouth, tightness in your throat, difficulty swallowing, or weakness.
