PalmaThe National Police have reported four militants from Arran Menorca for an alleged hate crime for wearing t-shirts with the slogan 'K*ll a tourist, free a house'. All four were summoned to testify at the courts of Mahón last August. The complaint was made public by Arran this Thursday on social media, after the Public Prosecutor's Office rejected the appeal filed by the organization against the decision to initiate judicial proceedings.
In the appeal, Arran highlights the "disproportionality" of the investigation and the "non-existence" of criminal acts. According to their defense, the slogan printed on the t-shirts is "satirical" and "a cry of alarm to highlight a worrying reality in Menorca".
The police report, always according to the organization, maintains that the slogan attacks a vulnerable group. "Article 510 of the Penal Code was included to protect minorities that may suffer from racism, homophobia, or xenophobia, not to protect rentiers or luxury consumers," they reproved.
However, they have considered that the State security forces and bodies and the Government Delegation "make it clear" that they "will attack and attempt to fragment anyone who organizes to change this productive model".
The platform Less tourism, more life has conveyed its support to Arran Menorca regarding this investigation. "Tourists are not a vulnerable group, confronting touristification is not a crime," it noted in a message on the social network X.
