Masdeu was a teacher and the first center-right MP in the Balearic Parliament as a candidate for the Independent Group of the People's Party of Formentera (AIPF). Upon hearing the news, the President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Joan Robert Masdeu Mayans.
The regional leader recalled that he was "a man who dedicated his life, both in teaching and politics, to serving the citizens of Formentera." "May he rest in peace," she concluded.
