As it did last week, the PP has assured that it will await the reports on the personal use of the Consell de Mallorca's cars by the island institution's vice-president, Pedro Bestard, to make a decision on the matter. The popular party continues to avoid taking a stance on the information accusing Bestard of using the vehicles for private matters and party events, while the PSOE has demanded that Llorenç Galmés dismiss him immediately.

The PP spokesperson in the Consell, Núria Riera, has stated that "action will be taken with force" in this case if necessary. The Technical Secretariat of the Department of Rural Environment, Natural Environment and Sports, headed by Bestard, has been responsible for one of the reports on the use of the institution's cars. The other document will include the legal measures that can be taken in this case. There will be a third report on the economic consequences of the events.

According to the Consell's internal investigation, Bestard ordered that one of the new vehicles acquired by the Consell de Mallorca's Environment Department be reserved for him and that it not be labeled as an official vehicle of the institution. "This car, reserve it for me," sources familiar with the matter confirm Bestard said, who would be responsible for not labeling it. This revelation reinforces the suspicion that the public purchase of the car —initially intended for the ordinary services of the Environment Department— ended up being used almost exclusively and personally. For weeks, it has been questioned whether the vice-president used unmarked official vehicles to go to his home, attend party events, and travel regularly with public resources while his private car remained parked for days at the island institution's headquarters.

The second vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca appeared before the Transparency Commission of the Consell on Thursday, but, beyond denying personal use, he did not provide any concrete information. "If I go from Manacor to Alcúdia and I have to stop to eat in Ses Torres, I will stop. Or in Es Cruce," he said, without clarifying whether he gave orders to leave the vehicles unlabeled, nor the routes, nor the kilometers he has driven, nor why two Consell cars have also been seen parked in front of his house.

For their part, the PSOE spokesperson in the Consell, Catalina Cladera, has assured that "Bestard can no longer sit at the presidential table or appear next to Galmés in the photo". Cladera has demanded that Llorenç Galmés "assume his responsibility and dismiss him immediately". The socialist leader has also criticized the Consell's lack of transparency regarding Bestard's representation expenses, and has recalled that it has been confirmed that the vice president and his chief of staff traveled to Menorca on a weekend, with an official service car, to attend a specific event that could have been covered with a lower expense. While the reports arrive, Bestard has continued with his agenda. This Wednesday he presented the trophy that the Consell will award at the National Trot Grand Prix.
