The PSIB reports that almost half of tourist establishments have not installed elevating beds.
43% of the accommodations inspected by the Council did not comply with the obligation

PalmNearly half of all tourist establishments do not comply with the requirement to incorporate elevating beds in rooms so that housekeepers can better perform their jobs. This is the complaint that the Secretary of Economy of the Socialist Workers' Party (PSIB), Llorenç Pou, launched this Tuesday at a press conference. In the midst of the tourist season, he said, this fact worsens the working conditions of 20,000 workers. According to data obtained in response to questions from the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council), the Socialists point out that 43% of hotel establishments that underwent inspection did not comply with the regulations. If this percentage were extended to all hotels, that would be 1,089 establishments in violation of the regulations, Pou emphasized.
"Both the Government, through Ibassal (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), and the Island Council, responsible for regulating the sector, are doing nothing about it," he criticized. Similarly, Pou noted that the workload studies on chambermaids, which were due to be completed in 2025, have been extended until 2028. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Tourism of the PSIB and island councilor, Joana Maria Adrover, asked the Council to clarify whether fines between €500 and €50,000 have been imposed.
