18 injured in a plane fire at Palma airport

Six people have been transferred to hospitals in Palma as a precaution.

PalmEighteen people were injured to varying degrees in a fire at Palma Airport. According to the Emergency Services, the fire started on a Ryanair plane that was stopped on the runway. Six of the injured had to be taken to hospitals on the island, while the rest were treated at Son Sant Joan and did not require further medical attention.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigation has been launched to determine what caused it. The plane's passengers fled as best they could. Many opened the plane's emergency door and jumped off the wing. The scene left shocking images.

Two Basic Life Support ambulances and two Advanced Life Support ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The most seriously injured, although all in a serious condition, have been taken to the Rotger Clinic and Palma Planas.
