The workers of the General Agrarian Association of Mallorca (Agama) met this Thursday with the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture to find solutions to the crisis currently affecting the dairy plant, which will be closed next year will stop buying milk from dairy farms in MallorcaNeither the employees nor the government have yet met with Agama's management to discuss their future and that of the company.

Agama employees who attended the meeting explained to ARA Baleares that the regional government "is committed to local industry and agriculture" and asserted that "the only one not interested in collaborating is the company." They also asserted that the 17 workers currently employed by the company "want the factory to continue." Similarly, they announced that they intend to "move forward" with the goal of "Agama remaining Agama."

For its part, sources from the Government They explained that at the meeting, both ministries exchanged information with the workers about the current situation. In this way, they intend to "gather data to make a claim to the company," since they consider the project to be still viable.

The company has contacted this Legal Representation of Workers (RLT) to call a meeting for October 20. However, the workers' representation has requested that this meeting be brought forward to next week, considering that "the situation of uncertainty experienced by the workforce demands immediate responses and a clear signal of commitment from management," according to RLT in a statement.

"As formally communicated, bringing forward the meeting would contribute to reducing internal tension and strengthening mutual trust, demonstrating a willingness to act in good faith and cooperate in the search for joint solutions," added RLT.

However, sources from theExecutive They have warned employees that "although they have the right to complain and also the chances of winning, they must be clear that they will not reverse the decisions that Agama has already made." Similarly, they assert that the Damm group "is very clear that it wants to close Agama." So far, the company has not met with the administration either. Agriculture sources assure that "since Agama was sold, contact with the regional government has worsened" to the point of being "zero."

Damm assured ARA Baleares a few days ago that "no decision has been made yet in this regard," referring to the future of the dairy. "Different scenarios are being studied and work is being done to find solutions that minimize the impact it may have on the dairy farmsBut nothing has been decided, explained Damm sources. Agama has been suffering losses for years, which has led it to reduce its raw milk purchase volume due to the decline in sales," they explained.
