PalmThe investigation into the death of Mallorcan Matilde Muñoz in Indonesia continues to uncover new information about the crime. The latest information to emerge is that Muñoz's killers moved her body up to four times before she was discovered on the beach.

This was explained by the Indonesian Police in a statement where they detail that initially the body was in the bungalow (the place where she was killed) and the detainees transferred her to a warehouse at the hotel where he stayed for four daysAfter this time, the killers decided to move the Mallorcan woman's body again for fear of discovery, and they took it to the back of the hotel. Weeks later, they took her to an abandoned lot near the hotel to hinder the police search. Finally, on August 24, they took her to the beach and buried her. Six days later, on August 30, the body was discovered, and the investigation into her murder began.

Although it was moved four times, twice inside the hotel, Indonesian police have reported that no witnesses saw the killers moving the body. In fact, according to sources close to the case, on the day the killers last moved the body (August 24), police officers found a bag containing clothing, medication, and several of the Mallorcan woman's documents in some manure in the area. However, what they did not find was her cell phone, passport, or credit cards.

During the investigation, they also discovered that when the Mallorcan woman was already dead, the killers sent a text message from her cell phone to a hotel employee. The message contained numerous spelling errors "uncharacteristic of Muñoz" and explained that she had decided to travel to Laos. With this strategy, the killers intended to mislead both the police and her family, thus securing an alibi for the coming days and diverting police attention. It was precisely this message that alerted the family, and they began to suspect that she might have been murdered. Indonesian police have stated that they "believe" it will take about two months to close the investigation into the alleged murder of Mallorcan tourist Matilde Muñoz. An autopsy was performed this Thursday on the island of Lombok (Indonesia), although the results are still unknown.

Amirudin, a spokesperson for the West Lombok police station in charge of the case, said he expects the search to exhaust the maximum 60-day period available—since the murder suspects were arrested last Saturday—to submit a report on the case to the Prosecutor's Office.

"I think it will be necessary to exhaust the deadline," he explained, declining to go into detail about the motives for the murder, and simply emphasizing that "the process continues." The police officer emphasized the importance of knowing the results of the autopsy now, "because they help the investigation; it's additional evidence," he concluded.

Muñoz's body was found last Saturday on a beach in Senggigi.(West Lombok), after your family and friends circle alert of the disappearance in JulyThe Mallorcan woman, who turned 73 this month and had arrived in Lombok in June, where she used to spend long periods of time, was allegedly murdered. by an employee of the Bumi Aditya Hotel, where he was staying, and a former employee of the same establishment The two detainees (aged 33 and 29) confessed to police officers that they had planned her murder and are being held in isolation in a police station cell, accused of homicide and robbery with violence.

According to police sources, the collaboration of Interpol was "key," helping to geolocate the victim's cell phone and enabling the exhumation of the body.

The two detainees

Muñoz's family has explained that their wish is that, once the case is closed and the killers of the Mallorcan woman are identified, the body will be cremated in Lombok, which would make a second autopsy in Spain impossible.

It should be remembered that the Lombok Police accuse the two suspects of premeditated murder and Spanish-style robbery, and continue to investigate the case.

The forensic doctor has already performed the autopsy.

The autopsy of the Mallorcan Matilde Muñoz, who was murdered on the Indonesian island of Lombok two months ago, was performed this Thursday at the Mataram Police Hospital. According to Nyoman Madiasa, head of the police unit at Mataram Hospital (Lombok), the procedure was concluded after about two hours, although the results have not yet been made public, and it is unknown whether the forensic doctor's investigation will have any bearing on the police investigation. The results are expected to be made public within 48 hours to two weeks.

Madiasa explained that the autopsy had to be performed "earlier than planned" because the forensic doctor had another appointment. Dr. Arfi is the only forensic doctor available in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, to which Lombok belongs and which comprises some 400 islands, although many of them are uninhabited.
