PalmA team of Palma City Council workers entered the Son Banya settlement on Tuesday, assisted by the National Police and the Local Police to ensure their safety, to seize six illegal buildings that violated current urban planning regulations. Furthermore, three of these dwellings turned out to be drug-dealing locations.

This is the fifth such operation carried out by the City Council in 2025 and is part of Palma Mayor Jaime Martínez's plan to deal "firmly and decisively" with any irregularities in the area. The operation, still underway, began at 7:30 a.m. and involves various municipal departments and services, including Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Animal Protection, and Emaya (the municipal waste management company).

Local Police officers from Palma and the National Police are overseeing the operation.

In addition, officers from the Local Police are involved, including two teams from the Immediate Intervention Unit (UII), one from the Comprehensive Security Unit (Usei) and another from the Drone Unit (Udrop), with support from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) of the National Police.

Apart from the six illegal constructions, an excavator, a truck and various construction-related materials have been removed so far, in addition to two vehicles for lack of mandatory insurance.

The excavator destroyed one of the drug-selling points.
