Arrested at Palma airport with 109 capsules of cocaine inside the organism
The man, 46 years old, had arrived from Belgium and was transporting a total of 1,353 grams of this substance
PalmaA 46-year-old man has been arrested at Palma airport as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime after being found with more than a kilo of cocaine inside his body, as reported this Friday by the Civil Guard.
The man had arrived in Mallorca during the night of September 6 on a flight from Charleroi airport, in Belgium. Agents from the Civil Guard, the National Police, and officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the State Tax Administration Agency established a joint operation to locate and identify him, after receiving information from their respective central services alerting that the traveler might be using his body to hide and transport drugs.

Once located, the passenger was transferred to the official facilities of the Travelers' Customs at Palma airport, where a radiological examination was performed on him. The test revealed the presence of numerous foreign bodies inside his organism, compatible in their morphology and arrangement with capsules intended for the intracorporeal transport of narcotic substances.
Faced with this result, and both to guarantee the development of the investigation and to protect his physical integrity, the agents proceeded to arrest him and transfer him to the Son Espases University Hospital. There he remained under police surveillance and medical supervision while the natural expulsion of the foreign bodies took place.

During the process, 109 capsules, known as 'acorns’, were recovered in different phases, which contained a white rocky substance that, preliminarily, presents characteristics compatible with cocaine.
The total of the packages had an approximate gross weight of 1,353 grams. Once the operation was finalized, the detainee was brought before the judicial authorities and their imprisonment was decreed. The operation is part of the joint actions of the Civil Guard, the National Police, and Customs Surveillance to prevent and prosecute drug trafficking through the main entry points of the Balearic Islands.
