Births in the Balearic Islands fall by 5% until August

Most births are to mothers between the ages of 30 and 34.

PalmBirths in the Balearic Islands fell by 4.66% between January and August 2025 compared to the same period last year, to 5,667 births, according to data released Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Of those born last August in the Archipelago (774), 381 were women and 393 were men.

Most of the births were to mothers between the ages of 30 and 34 (265); 35 to 39 (196); and 25 to 29 (157).

Regarding deaths, the INE statistics published this Wednesday reveal that up to week 40 of 2025, 6,958 deaths were recorded in the Balearic Islands, a 0.22% increase compared to the same week last year. This week alone, 153 people died in the islands.
