Demolition of the Bennàssar building on December 31st Street halted
According to their details, the license they were using does not correspond to the guidelines in the report of the technicians of their department.

PalmARCA announced this Monday the suspension of the complete demolition of the building on Calle del 31 de Diciembre designed by architect Gaspar Bennàsser, which they described as a "small triumph."
According to the entity in a statement, the Consell de Mallorca, through its Heritage Department, informed the developers last Thursday that the license they were using did not correspond to the guidelines in the report by the department's technicians, so they have decided to cancel and suspend the demolition.
Given this fact, sources from the association once again demanded that Palma City Council act quickly and firmly and catalogue the building, as indicated in the Consell report dated January 2025. ARCA points out that the façade is currently intact, although some sections of the apartment's interior remain intact.
As explained, the report from the Consell de Mallorca requires the façade and the most notable elements of carpentry and hydraulic tiles to be catalogued with environmental protection, although it does not prevent increasing heights, "always in harmony with the building as a whole."
The organization recalled that it had already warned of the "failure to comply with the duties of Heritage protection incurred by the administrations if a building with proven heritage values was demolished" and that, in its opinion, criminal liability could even arise in this regard.
