PalmThe Emergency Services continue to urge the public to exercise "maximum caution" due to the showers expected this Saturday. In a press release, the Regional Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, and Local Cooperation reported that the Directorate General of Emergencies and the Interior convened the Technical Advisory Committee of the Special Plan against Adverse Weather Phenomena (Meteobal) this morning to monitor the development of the showers that have been occurring since the morning.

According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), rainfall since early this morning has been minimal: 13 liters in Sóller, six liters in Palma and Portopí, six liters in Formentera, and four liters in Sant Antoni. As predicted, the storms were not accompanied by lightning, and most of the rain fell into the sea, especially between the Ibiza and Mallorca channel. There has also been a significant drop in temperature, with highs between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. During these first few hours, only one incident was reported in Palma, related to falling tree branches. According to Aemet, the weather is expected to stabilize as the day progresses in Mallorca and during the afternoon in Menorca. Active weather warnings

For today, AEMET (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency) has the following weather warnings in effect: an orange warning for rain in Mallorca (Sierra de Tramuntana, north and northeast) and in Menorca; a yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms in Ibiza, Formentera, and the interior, south, and east of Mallorca; and a yellow warning for strong winds and coastal phenomena throughout the Balearic Islands. It should be noted, however, that the evolution of adverse weather conditions may lead to hourly updates to AEMET's warnings, which can be consulted on their website. Prevention and coordination

Emergency Services have requested that municipalities activate their Municipal Emergency Plans (PEMU) according to the alert level established by Civil Protection. The Palma City Council has already activated its PEMU. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment has also established an expanded deployment due to adverse weather conditions in Mallorca and Menorca. In Mallorca, the service is reinforced with 19 forest firefighters, five environmental agents, and an additional fire engine. In Menorca, the reinforced deployment includes 11 forest firefighters, two environmental agents, and an additional fire engine. Recommendations

The Directorate General for Emergencies and Interior again recommended "maximum caution" in the face of adverse weather conditions, especially in areas affected by orange alerts, and to continue following the instructions of Civil Protection and emergency services at all times.
