PalmSeveral Civil Guard agents have stated that the accused of murdering his mother-in-law in Colonia de Sant Jordi in September 2024 came out to meet them at the scene with his legs and feet full of blood.

The civil guards who testified this Monday agreed that upon arriving at the scene, the accused received them in flip-flops and bloody in the legs and feet. As they pointed out, although he appeared nervous, but not aggressive, he only repeated phrases such as "it wasn't me", "I warned you" and "you are mistaken".

The prosecutor is seeking 20 years in prison and the private prosecution is seeking life imprisonment with review for the accused.

During their testimony, several Civil Guard agents who took statements from the victim's daughter and the accused's ex-partner explained that the woman lived in fear and submission and that she even slept with her shoes on in case she ever had to flee from the accused who killed her mother.

They also pointed out that she recorded conversations with her ex-partner in which he could be heard telling her that "she couldn't laugh because she had a whore's laugh" or that "she was prettier when her father died".

Furthermore, it has also been made public that the murdered woman's daughter filed two complaints against the accused for gender-based violence, but later withdrew them "out of fear". This was explained by the family's lawyer during Monday's session, where she also reported that the deceased victim called her daughter, the accused's partner, while he was beating her. "We heard screams of fear, panic, and pain," recalled the victim's daughter and the accused's ex-partner.

The woman described the relationship as "tempestuous" and explained that on the day of the events, during a conversation with the man in which she asked him to leave the house, he told her "that she looked very beautiful in mourning". That day, she added, the accused had urinated inside the mother's car.

“I heard harrowing screams and attacks for 20 minutes”

A neighbor who witnessed the brutal fatal assault on a woman in Colonia de Sant Jordi has stated that the victim's screams were “dear-splitting” and that he saw the man repeatedly kick her for about 15 to 20 minutes.

According to his account, the attacker “came and went and kicked her”, while the woman had already stopped screaming. The events were occurring about 30 to 40 meters away, separated by a dividing wall between plots.

The witness explained that he initially thought the victim might be the attacker's daughter, with whom he had frequent conflicts.

Another witness described the screams as “shattering” and assured that she heard the hands-free phone conversation, with screams “of anguish and pain”. She also explained that she accompanied the victim's daughter to the home upon seeing her nervous state.

Upon arrival, he recounted hearing the accused say: “Call your mother, see if she answers you.”

The events date back to September 25, 2024, when, according to the Prosecutor's Office, the accused assaulted the mother of his ex-partner on the porch of the home and repeatedly kicked her in the head for at least a quarter of an hour, causing her fatal injuries.

The jury trial has begun with the constitution of the court and the reading of the parties' submissions. The hearing will continue with the testimonies of the witnesses, while the accused will testify last.

The accused has been expelled from the trial

The president of the Provincial Court's Jury Trial has expelled the accused of murdering his mother-in-law in Colonia de Sant Jordi this Monday in September 2024.

It was at the beginning of the oral hearing after the accused asked to speak to "allege indefenseness" after his request to change lawyers, from the public defender's office, had not been resolved in his favor. The President of the Court reminded the accused that his request to change counsel had already been dismissed and that, if he wished, he would have the right to intervene and make relevant contributions on Wednesday.

The Magistrate reiterated to the man that if he continued to speak, he would be expelled from the courtroom and returned to the holding cells. At that moment, the man stood up, forcing the agents guarding him to restrain him. At that moment, his expulsion was ordered and the trial continued with the absent accused. The accused returned about 10 minutes later on the condition of remaining still and silent.

It should be recalled that the accused has been in prison for a year and a half since the head of Investigating Court number 3 of Manacor, on duty, ordered him provisional communication detention without bail.
