PalmThe Civil Guard of Puente de Inca has arrested a 19-year-old man for a robbery, and he has turned out to be one of those involved in a checkpoint escape in Capdepera last May.

According to the force in a press release, the events date back to last Saturday afternoon, when a resident of Pont d'Inca witnessed two young men dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, who had entered a home by jumping in the yard and were surprised.

After what happened, officers from the Civil Guard's Investigation Area began the appropriate steps to locate the two perpetrators. During the course of the search, they linked them to a vehicle that had been stolen days earlier at Palma airport. As a result of the investigation, officers located the vehicle used on a street in Palma and upon inspecting it, they found one of the perpetrators sleeping, who resisted arrest very aggressively.

After verifying his identity, he turned out to be an individual known to the Civil Guard for having been involved in numerous robberies, in addition to being one of the suspects linked to the escape from a police checkpoint in the town of Capdepera on May 18. The individual was wanted, detained, and brought before a court for other robberies.

Inside the vehicle, officers located balaclavas, gloves, and binoculars, among other items used in the robberies. After being brought before a court, he was ordered to be imprisoned. The investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out.
