Luxury also reaches the sunbeds on Palma's beaches: 70 euros for a day
The GOB has denounced this offer and has reminded that prices are limited and set by Palma municipal regulations.

PalmSpending the day on a lounger and with a "premium" umbrella on Palma's Cala Major beach costs 70 euros. This is further proof that luxury has taken over all elements related to tourism, further alienating residents. In addition to this overexploitation and extreme price inflation, the GOB reported the case to the General Directorate of Coasts and Coastline of the Regional Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle for a "clear breach of the authorization granted to Palma City Council for the operation of seasonal services on the beaches of the municipality of Palma."
According to the environmental organization, prices for these services are limited, and the authorized rate for loungers and umbrellas is 6 euros, and this regulation is not followed on any of the beaches where the Beach Oci company operates. The "premium" rate, as the GOB explains in the statement, represents a 288% increase over the authorized rate, but it's not just this "exclusive" offer that violates regulations; all the services this company offers, both on Cala Major beach and on the beaches of Ciutat Jardí and Arenal, are illegal.
The images attached by the GOB show that the "standard" offer for two sunbeds and an umbrella is 19 euros. This price already violates regulations, since the maximum price set is 18 euros. The company has more than 100 sunbeds distributed across the aforementioned beaches in Ciudad.
Environmentalists have also reported that the two collapsible kiosks on Cala Major beach do not respect the minimum separation distance of 100 meters between them, established by Article 69.3 of the General Coastal Regulations.
However, in the document they submitted, they requested information from the General Directorate of Coasts and Coastline regarding the actions taken in response to these breaches and infractions, as well as the expiration of the authorization due to the violation of its conditions.
