PalmEmergency Services 112 has activated the Zero Severity Index (IG0) of the Meteobal Plan for coastal phenomena in Mallorca and Menorca. In a message on the social network X this Saturday, Emergency Services 112 announced the activation of the adverse weather alert in Mallorca and Menorca, in response to the yellow warnings established by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the coming day.

The Aemet (Spanish Meteorological Agency) plans to activate a yellow warning for the risk of coastal storms in the Tramuntana mountains, northern and northeastern Mallorca, and Menorca. In the Tramuntana mountains, the forecast for the next day is northeasterly winds with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of up to three meters. Meanwhile, in the north and northeast of Mallorca and Menorca, northerly and northeasterly winds are expected with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of up to three meters.

Therefore, Emergency 112 has urged caution and shared some advice on what to do in the event of a storm at sea. In this regard, it recommended not accessing coastal areas affected by strong waves or places where waves break strongly; not approaching promenades, breakwaters, or cliffs, as the force of the water can drag you away; Avoid any type of water sport, and if you have a boat, make sure it's moored securely. Finally, if someone falls overboard, call 112 immediately and keep an eye on the exact spot where they fell to report it to the rescue services.
