PalmaResidents of Santa Maria have urged support for the young women arrested this week during the town's festival. Through a message spread on social media, the initiators of the campaign encourage attendees to bring "flags, banners, t-shirts, and any creative proposal" to visualize their rejection of the police and judicial response to the case. "Now more than ever, let's stand together as a town and say that if they touch one of us, they touch all of us," the call to action states.

The initiative comes a few days after the content of the Civil Guard's report, in which the two young women are attributed three alleged crimes: continuous damage, damage to historical heritage, and membership in a criminal group, became known.

According to the investigation, the events are not only limited to the graffiti against five real estate agencies in Santa Maria, but the agents also establish links with the movement against touristification, especially with the platform Menys Turisme, Més Vida and the collective Arran Mallorca. The report maintains that the perpetrators acted "in a coordinated and premeditated manner" and considers that their actions coincide with the direct action manual disseminated by Menys Turisme, Més Vida, even though this document was published after the investigated events.

The two young women were released on provisional bail after appearing before the court, and the investigation remains open. The case has generated a broad political and social debate about the proportionality of the police operation and the possible criminalization of social movements that denounce the effects of mass tourism.
