Palm"Orange alert for rain," the General Directorate of Traffic has issued this Thursday warning of the risk of skidding and flooding on the Sóller road following the rainfall that occurred during the morning.

The alert has received a barrage of criticism on social media for the blatant spelling mistake, as the correct word would be "lluvias" (rain). Meteorologist Albert Darder pointed it out on his Twitter account after seeing the roadside alert this morning.

It's worth noting that the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued an orange alert for showers and wind in Mallorca this morning. Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera were under a yellow alert. The rain began falling at 8:00 AM in the Mallorca Channel and reached land early in the morning. The sky darkened completely, and all of Palma was shrouded in rain and darkness. This cold front, which triggered the maximum alert in southern Mallorca and the Tramuntana mountain range, brought accumulated rainfall of 30 mm in one hour and wind gusts of around 90 km/h.
