Pla de MallorcaThis Tuesday, the heart of Mallorca beats with a singular force. The Pla de Mallorca awakens for its great third Easter festival, a day when time seems to stand still to allow tradition and fellowship to prevail over the work routine that already reigns throughout the archipelago. And it is that this Easter Tuesday, the roads and paths that wind towards the most emblematic peaks or hermitages of the region are once again filled with families laden with 'senalletes' (small baskets) or backpacks where the last jewels of homemade and traditional Easter confectionery still remain.

In an image that repeats itself with a unique visual and emotional power at the Sanctuary of Bonany, the towns of Petra, Vilafranca, and Sant Joan join hands to crown the mountain. There they share space and devotion year after year. This year's festival is historic, as it serves to experience the closing events of the centenary of the new church of Bonany with the planting of the giants of Petra and the giantess of Vilafranca, and the solemn procession of the Mother of God through the exteriors of the temple, the residents of the three municipalities celebrate the day with fellowship.

Activities that took place during the celebration.
Great response from residents

In Montuïri, the Puig de Sant Miquel becomes the unavoidable meeting point for hundreds of Montuïrers who, faithful to the appointment, climb on foot to have snacks of panades, play tella, and enjoy the jotas and boleros played by the musicians of the soundtrack. Maria Antònia Rigo was the mayor of the Puig. She presided over the climb, the mass, and as tradition dictates, she distributed sweets among the neighbors and made the first throw of the tella. One of the novelties of the day is the great lunch offered by the new managers of the bar-restaurant of the Puig, which will be extended with music and horabauxa.

The municipality of Algaida today experiences its return to its origins with the mystical pilgrimage to the peace of Castellitx, where the rural landscape becomes the perfect refuge for a celebration that is both authentic and serene. The games on the threshing floor of La Pau, the snacks and lunches, and the companionship also mark one of the key events in the festive calendar of the Algaidins. The 'quintos' and 'quintas', this year from 2005, have a special role on the day by organizing the party on the threshing floor.

Brotherhood and tradition

In Llubí, the activity moves towards the hermitage of Sant Crist where the people of Llubí gather to close the Easter cycle with a community celebration. Men and women from Llubí have gathered in the Plaça de l'Església to leave, accompanied by the ancestral sounds of the bagpipes. The solemn service has been celebrated and deeply rooted activities such as the climb up the greased pole have taken place. A drawing contest has also been held and there has been a purple information point, an informative and dynamic space to learn more about male violence and community support resources.

Thus, with this festival, one more year, the Pla demonstrates that it knows how to preserve the legacy of its ancestors like no other, transforming a simple Tuesday into an explosion of culture, gastronomy, and shared identity that reminds us that spring and celebration still have a lot of life ahead before the daily hustle and work once again set the rhythm of everyday life in the interior of Mallorca.
