Cries and songs in Palma against the genocide in Gaza and the complicity of the United States
The mobilization was called after the Israeli army launched a ground attack on Gaza City.
PalmThe Marches for Palestine in Mallorca and the Global Movement in Gaza Mallorca called for a rally this Thursday afternoon in front of the United States Consulate in Palma, on Carrer de Porto Pi. Hundreds of people attended the event, protesting against what they consider US complicity in the Israeli offensive on Gaza"We are witnessing a massive and systematic murder of the Palestinian population, who are completely helpless and without any help," the organizers said.
The mobilization was called after the Israeli army launched a ground assault on Gaza City and the UN Independent International Commission concluded that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian population. According to the commission's president, "there is an intention to destroy the Palestinians of Gaza." The organizers explain that the new offensives are forcing people to take refuge in the devastated area of Al Mawasi, "which has no infrastructure and all exits are blocked."
During the protest, shouts in defense of the Palestinian people and against U.S. foreign policy were heard. The organizers pointed out that the date chosen was not accidental, as it coincides with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Jerusalem, which has reiterated its support for Israel.
The event concluded with a musical performance by Mallorcan singer Júlia Colom, bringing to a close a day marked by advocacy and support for Palestine.
