PalmThe former Son Busquets barracks has become one of the protagonists of Open House Palma 2025The festival, which has opened some sixty buildings for its fifth edition, has generated particular interest in the site, which until decades ago was linked to the Artillery. As detailed by Open House, Son Busquets is envisioned as an eco-neighborhood, combining housing, public facilities, and commercial uses. The plan calls for preserving and repurposing the main military buildings for new cultural and social uses, while 65 percent of the area will be dedicated to public space, including three hectares of green areas that will maintain the existing trees.

The future neighborhood will be structured around a superblock that will minimize vehicular traffic and allow 58% of the land to be exclusively for pedestrians. As for the housing, the project prioritizes bioclimatic architecture, with buildings adapted to the environment, good cross-ventilation, and near-zero energy consumption thanks to the generation of renewable energy.
