PalmThe GOB denounces that in Cala Tuent, in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains, "tourism reigns supreme," while the protection of people and environmental conservation are neglected, despite the fact that it is an area with multiple environmental protection measures.

In a statement, the environmental organization noted that this cove, located on rural land within the natural setting of the Tramuntana mountain range and classified as an Area of Special Natural Interest (ANEI), is experiencing increasing tourist overcrowding, with access by both land and sea becoming congested and high pressure.

One of the main problems reported is the repeated entry of boats into the marked bathing area. According to the GOB, this situation has been allowed in recent years by leaving an opening in the markings placed by the Escorca City Council, which facilitates docking and disembarking maneuvers for passengers at the pier and puts bathers at risk.

The group also reported that this pier was expanded by the City Council, although, according to them, it does not hold the concession for the infrastructure.

Before the start of the summer season, the GOB requested the proper placement of the beacons to ensure a safe bathing area. However, they denounce the solution adopted as "a mockery" and "a declaration of intent" by the Administration: the perimeter of the bathing area was closed, but reduced "to a minimum" to facilitate the maneuvering of tourist boats, to the detriment of safety and the natural environment.
