PalmThe Sóller Tunnel will close at night for a month to carry out maintenance work and improve safety systems. According to a press release from the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council), the closure will begin this Monday, October 6th, from Monday to Thursday between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The work is expected to continue until the second week of November.

The improvements represent an investment of approximately €600,000 by the island institution, which will affect the communication systems that support the infrastructure's safety. Outdated cameras and the accident detection system will also be replaced. More than three kilometers of fiber optic cable and associated cabling will be installed and renewed. In addition, routine maintenance tasks will be performed, such as cleaning drains and inspecting fire and ventilation systems.

The only vehicles authorized to pass through these tunnels will be public transport, primarily TIB buses, and emergency vehicles. During this time, nighttime maintenance work is also planned for the Mola tunnel, which leads down to the port of Sóller.
