They are calling for the Sóller train to be restored for residents.
MÁS por Sóller reminds us that the railway operation is a public concession and denounces that it is now overcrowding the town.
Palm"Sóller had a train that was the envy of Mallorca," was how MÁS por Sóller recalled this Friday in a statement in which it lamented that more than twenty years ago the people of Sóller lost a train that served as a means of transport to the city and that now provides no service to residents.
"Now, a company markets the old train for tourism and does not invest any of its profits in sustainable transport for the residents of the Valley, but in any other interest of the company, without consideration for the general interest when it still holds and operates the concession for a public good and the advantages of being considered a public service."
In this sense, they have recalled that this is not a tourist train owned by a private company, but rather a concession for a public service for its management.
"Where is the train that we Valley residents considered ours, whether or not we owned shares in the concessionaire?" is the demand from MÁS for Sóller. For all these reasons, the party has stated its intention to stop the train from being a "massive and alien" element to the town and for the people of Sóller to feel it as their own again. "So that Sóller can have a train again," they said.
