PalmThe Association of Public Administration Workers (Atap) reported this Tuesday that the political leaders of the Palma City Council have approved a salary increase of approximately 6,000 euros per year, while different municipal public services suffer from a situation of "paralysis, neglect, and disastrous management".

The entity criticized, in a statement, that this salary increase, published in the BOIB last week, contrasts with the situation faced by numerous municipal areas due to staff shortages and increased workload.

According to Atap, this lack of workers affects various departments of Cort in a "cross-cutting" manner, such as markets, urban planning, municipal brigades, culture, the Citizen Service Offices (OAC), or the Municipal Innovation Institute. The association warns that this situation directly impacts the attention received by citizens.

Among the problems they denounce are the "collapse" of the OACs, the existence of workers performing the same duties with different salaries, or the assignment of tasks beyond the scope of administrative assistants without corresponding remuneration.

Atap also assures that current working conditions are causing municipal competitive examinations to be left vacant and that many workers are opting to leave the council to join private companies or other public administrations.

The association has made a special mention of the situation of the Palma Local Police, denouncing the lack of personnel and the labor and salary differences among officers.

Therefore, Atap demands that the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, implement urgent measures to improve the working conditions of municipal workers and strengthen the city's public services.
