PalmThe SATI union, the majority union in the collective bargaining agreement for intercity public transport (TIB), confirmed that it is maintaining the strike planned for July 18, 21, and 23, as well as the start of an indefinite strike starting on the 25th, after considering the proposal presented by the companies insufficient. According to Efe, the strike was registered on July 7 due to the deadlock in negotiations, which it attributes to a "provocative" attitude from the employers and proposals it considers far from the real needs of the staff to carry out their work "with a minimum of dignity."

SATI has stated that during the mediation that began this Monday at the Arbitration and Mediation Court of the Balearic Islands (TAMIB), it has "enormously" softened its demands, but the employer representatives "continue to maintain positions that make it impossible to reach any agreement," so it considers the call off of the strike "practical."

Specifically, this Wednesday, the TIB concessionaire companies, members of the Balearic Transport Business Federation (FEBT), presented the union with a formal proposal that includes a 3% salary increase in 2025 and other improvements to avoid a strike.

The union criticized the "irresponsible" attitude of the companies, accusing them of remaining "calm" in the face of the possible start of the strike, while the public service is sustained by the workers.

SATI also criticized the government for taking a backseat to this situation despite being the owner of the service, and warned it that if it does not intervene directly to force a solution, the consequences of the strike will also be its responsibility.
