Train users ask that frequencies be maintained in the face of August connection cuts

PalmaThe Mallorca Train Users Association has asked Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca and the Government to maintain usual frequencies throughout August, considering it "absolutely unjustifiable" for a cut to occur during August.
Train users, who have shown "displeasure and surprise" at the reduction of frequencies on weekdays in August, have warned that the frequency will go from every ten minutes during peak hours and 20 minutes during the rest of the day to having only one train every half hour throughout the day in August, something they claim causes "serious harm" to thousands of people who use this means of transport.
Thus, they have emphasized that August is not a month of inactivity, as Mallorca continues to see a lot of mobility, both from residents and visitors, and reducing frequencies, as they argue, will increase waiting times, worsen the quality of service, favor overcrowding of trains, and reduce the competitiveness of public transport compared to private vehicles.
The entity has explained that this measure goes against the promotion of sustainable mobility and the reduction of car use, and has advocated for public transport as an essential service that must offer quality services throughout the year.
