Two civil guards out of service rescue a man trapped in a fire in Cala Rajada

PalmaTwo Civil Guard agents who were off duty rescued a man early this morning who had been trapped in a fire that broke out in a dwelling in Cala Rajada, in the municipality of Capdepera. The fire started around 2:00 AM in an apartment located on the second floor of a building.

As reported by the Civil Guard, the two agents accessed the dwelling after breaking down the entrance door to rescue the sole occupant of the property. The man suffered burns and smoke inhalation poisoning. As a precautionary measure, four neighbors from the upper floors were also evacuated, while the flames affected the dwellings on the second and third floors of the building.

As a result of the incident, two people were transferred to Manacor Hospital. In addition, the two civil guards who participated in the rescue required medical assistance for smoke inhalation. The Mallorca Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire around 3:30 AM. Personnel from the Artà and Felanitx stations, as well as the sergeant and the operational head of the corps, intervened in the emergency tasks, with the support of the Local Police.
