UIB Physics professor Antoni Borràs dies
Borràs has held a PhD in Physics from the UIB since 2009.

Borràs held a PhD in Physics from the UIB in 2009, although he joined the UIB as a research trainee in 2007, as explained by the university in a press release. Since then, he has pursued an academic career at the university and, since 2024, has been a professor in the area of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics and director of the Master's Degree in Advanced Physics and Applied Mathematics.
He also taught in the Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention and the Master's Degree in Chemical Science and Technology. In previous academic years, he had also taught in the degrees of Biochemistry and Dentistry. He was also the principal investigator at the Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory (Labora) and a member of the Nuclear Physics research group (Fisnuc) and the Balearic Islands Observatory of Natural Risks and Emergencies (RiscBal).
His main lines of research were Quantum Information Theory and Environmental Radioactivity. He participated in the environmental radiological monitoring tasks carried out by the UIB in collaboration with the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) since 2008.
