PalmThe facade of the former Metropolitan cinemas in Palma was vandalized with graffiti this Tuesday morning, and the Flipau con Pere Garau association has warned that this attack on the city's historical heritage is yet another example of the widespread degradation of the area. In a statement, the group lamented that the Pere Garau neighborhood has once again been affected by the appearance of new graffiti, adding to the existing problems of broken sidewalks, vacant lots and buildings abandoned for decades, dirt, litter, and other issues that negatively impact the quality of life for residents. "This kind of damage, when it persists over time, alters the perception of public spaces and leads to a feeling of insecurity and degradation that discourages civic responsibility," they warned.

Furthermore, the group recalled that on December 9th, a report detailing 326 graffiti tags on Pere Garau was sent to the anti-graffiti office and Emaya (the municipal waste management company) with the intention of having them removed as part of the municipal program "Palma a Punt" (Palma at Point). However, they pointed out that many of these tags are still in public spaces.

The association has requested a "swift and efficient" response to these antisocial acts. At the same time, they encourage citizen collaboration in reporting and denouncing this behavior.
