PalmaA woman has died and five members of the same family residing in Menorca have been injured in a traffic accident that occurred this Thursday afternoon in a section of the island's main road, the Me-1, between Ma贸 and Alaior, which is under construction. Two of the injured, a 45-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were transferred this Friday to Son Espases hospital for cervical fractures, according to the Menorca Health Area.

The rest of the injured are stable. A 47-year-old woman remains under observation at the Emergency service of Mateu Orfila Hospital, while the baby, 21 months old, is admitted to the Pediatrics ward and is also stable. The fifth injured person is a 27-year-old woman. The accident took place around 4:30 PM at kilometer 7 of the main road, in the section that is currently under construction between Ma贸 and Alaior, approximately at the height of the intersection with the Argentina urbanization.

According to the information provided, the vehicle in which the victims were traveling was heading towards Ma贸 when it collided with a concrete block that delimited the construction area. As a result of the impact, the car overturned and ended up partially overturned on the opposite side of the road. The five occupants traveling in the vehicle were trapped, and the Menorca Firefighters had to travel to the scene of the accident to help them get out.

Two medically equipped ambulances, a sanitized ambulance, another for basic life support, and a logistics vehicle were also mobilized to the area, in addition to Civil Guard personnel. Initially, the injured were treated and transferred to Menorca's hospitals with multiple traumas. However, the condition of two of the affected individuals necessitated their subsequent transfer to Son Espases, where they remain admitted for their cervical injuries.
