Impulsa creates the first circular economy hub in the Balearic Islands to accelerate the transformation of the tourism model
The foundation presents in Palma the reN·Balear Circular Hub to promote the transition towards a more sustainable and connected tourism model
PalmImpulsa Balears has taken another step this Monday in its strategy to reinforce its role as a key player in the transformation of the Islands' economic model with the presentation of the first circular economy hub in the Balearic Islands. The initiative was announced during the first ordinary session of the Board of Trustees in 2026, held at HBX Group's headquarters in Palma and chaired by the President of the Government and the Foundation, Marga Prohens.
The meeting served to symbolize the beginning of a new stage for the foundation, aimed at increasing its impact and influence in both the public and private spheres. The project is conceived as a tool to accelerate the transition towards a more circular tourism and economic model, in a context of structural transformation of the sector.
The CEO of HBX Group, Nicolas Huss, opened the session by highlighting the foundation's role in understanding the challenges of tourism and the territory, and advocated for the need for "more vision, cooperation, and anticipation." For her part, Prohens defended the importance of "relaunching the foundational project to strengthen its impact on decision-making".
A hub to organize and connect the circular transition
The Board has highlighted the reN·Balear Circular Hub as the central piece of this new phase. The project is born with the will to become an infrastructure for connection between actors, knowledge, and initiatives linked to the circular economy.
The hub continues the roadmap already defined by Impulsa Balears on the transition towards a circular tourism system (horizon 2025-2035) and aims to facilitate its practical deployment. Among its objectives are to organize information, make opportunities visible, and foster the creation of transformative projects.
According to the foundation's technical director, Antoni Riera, the new instrument should allow "to continue the generated knowledge, expand its base, and reinforce the role of Impulsa Balears as a broker of a transformation that requires a holistic vision and shared governance".
Public-private cooperation and new strategic stage
The session also served to review the status of the foundation's main lines of work and to reinforce the patrons' commitment to public-private cooperation as a tool to drive structural changes.
With this move, Impulsa Balears opens a new phase in which it wants to consolidate itself as a reference space for the articulation of policies and initiatives aimed at the sustainability and transformation of the Islands' economic model.
