Maria del Mar Bonet and Serrat lead the tribute to Joan Ramon Bonet in Inca

The Principal Theatre of Inca hosts an evening full of music, memories and prominent figures from the Catalan cultural scene

PalmWith the title 60 years of The Lost LoveThe Principal Theatre of Inca and the BarnaSants cycle pay tribute this Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m. Joan Ramon Bonet (Palma, 1944), one of the founding voices of the Nova Cançó movement. The event, six decades after Bonet joined Els Setze Jutges, aims to celebrate his own songbook, as well as the author's overall artistic dimension, which is complemented by his renowned career as a photographer. Thus, classics such as Lost love, Souvenir vendor and His seagull.

The Teatro Principal in Inca has highlighted, through a press release, that it will be "an evening filled with emotion, memories and nostalgia, and also a space for reunion," as the event will be attended by emblematic figures of song, headed by his sister, Maria del Mar Bonet, and Maria del Mar Bonet, among others. Musical supervision will be in the hands of Borja Penalba from Valencia.

The event will also include speeches by Pere Sànchez (Now we're going of IB3), Damià Pons, Francina Armengol, Fanny Tur and Miquel Àngel Sancho (Chocolate). Furthermore, there will also be brief appearances by Miquela Lladó, Toni Pastor, Meritxell Gené, Antoni Olaf Sabater, Borja Penalba, Pere Camps, Tilda Espluga, Miquel Gil, and Benjami Salom, among others.

Joan Ramon Bonet, the first Mallorcan member of Els Setze Jutges

Besides being one of the pioneering voices of the Nova Cançó movement, he was the first Mallorcan artist to be part of the collective Els Setze Jutges. His training and experience in the navy profoundly influenced him and was reflected in his musical work, where the sea becomes a metaphor for freedom, love, and adventure. His brief but intense musical career established him as a key figure in the movement and was also instrumental in his sister Maria del Mar Bonet's entry into the Nova Cançó. His musical work has been reissued in various formats and has received distinctions such as the Medal of Honor from the Parliament of Catalonia and the 2018 Enderrock Honorary Award at the Balearic Music Awards.
