Seven young artists from Mallorca are exhibiting at the Oxo gallery in London as part of World Travel.
The project was revived by the Consell de Mallorca last May after years of inactivity
PalmThe Council of Mallorca has inaugurated the 'New Presences' exhibition at the Oxo Gallery in London to integrate culture into tourism promotion. The exhibition will be open to the public for a week as part of the World Travel Market tourism fair and aims to promote emerging artistic talent from the island internationally, as explained by the island institution in a press release. The exhibition, titled 'New Presences: Within and Beyond the Frame,' is curated by Beatriz Escudero and brings together the works of seven young creators selected by the Balearic Association of Curators and Art Critics (Accaib). The exhibiting artists are Juan Bonnemaison, Elena Covas López, Marta Crespí, Juan Vidal Monserrat, Marga Estelrich, Rebeca Morey Pérez, and Nicole Scarpa. "Now, with its presentation in London, this same exhibition begins its international tour and is consolidating itself as a strategic tool to give visibility to new Mallorcan creators and link culture with the island's tourism promotion as a differentiating value," highlighted the Island Councillor for Culture, Antònia Roca. In this regard, Roca emphasized this milestone, after years "without offering opportunities to emerging artists on the island," and stressed that it is "a source of pride" to bring the program to London and show the world the artistic talent that originates in Mallorca. "Culture is a fundamental strategic tool for tourism promotion, especially in an international context that values proposals like this, with the capacity to connect with an audience seeking unique experiences rooted in the territory," she added. It's worth remembering that the 'New Presences' project was revived by the Consell de Mallorca last May, after decades of inactivity, as evidenced by its inauguration this Tuesday at the La Misericordia Cultural Centre in the British capital. The opening event drew a large audience and generated considerable interest among attendees connected to the fields of culture, tourism, and contemporary art.
