MontuïriThe studio TEd'A Arquitectes, founded by Irene Pérez Piferrer and Jaume Mayol Amengual from Montuiira, has received three European and national awards between November and December, further solidifying their position as one of the most prominent voices in contemporary architecture from Mallorca. The first of these accolades came on November 7th in Warsaw, where the studio received the BigMat Grand Prize in the local context category for the Ca na Birgit project in Calvià. The project was not only awarded best project nationally but also took home the top European prize, the highest honor of the competition. The jury particularly valued an architecture that works on a local scale, using locally sourced materials and solutions, as well as the involvement of local stakeholders. In this sense, the award also recognizes the work of the builder, and in this case, the recognition went to Joan Sastre Cerdà, 'Pollet', which the studio, both Pérez and Mayol, highlighted as a cause for special joy.

A few days later, on November 20, TEd'A Arquitectes once again took center stage in Europe with the Holcim Europe award, granted for the project of the newschool of Gaussesin the Empordà region. This award recognizes sustainable architecture for the immediate future, based on the use of local resources and rigorous environmental criteria. In this case, the prize focuses on projects under construction, not completed works, which reinforces the forward-looking and transformative nature of the proposal.

Finally, on December 11, the studio was awarded one of the prizes at the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU XVII) for the Can Gabriel project in Palma. The BEAU selects the best works completed in Spain during the last two years and is one of the leading showcases of contemporary architecture.

It's worth remembering that Can Gabriel had already received the Casa de la Arquitectura award earlier this year and is currently also shortlisted for the 2026 Mies van der Rohe Awards, the leading European awards for contemporary architecture. With this triple distinction, TEd'A Arquitectes reaffirms a trajectory marked by architecture committed to place, materials, construction processes, and sustainability, and projects the talent of Mallorca onto the European architectural scene.
