The new Felanitx primary school will have 450 places spread over two lines.
The works will be put out to tender next week and could begin in October.

PalmThe new Felanitx Primary School will have capacity for 450 students and will have seven specific places in the Special Education Unit in a regular school. The Regional Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, presented the project to the education community on Tuesday. The project will have a budget of 8.14 million euros and an 18-month completion period. The project presentation was also attended by the Regional Secretary for Educational Development, Mateu Suñer, the manager of the Balearic Institute of Infrastructure and Educational Services (IBISEC), and the Mayor of Felanitx, Catalina Soler.
The new school will be built on a plot of land on Camino de Son Proenç donated by the Felanitx Town Council and will have two lines, with six units for Early Childhood Education and 12 for Primary Education, according to a statement from the Regional Ministry. The project includes a main building with a ground floor, which will house the preschool classrooms, a psychomotor skills classroom, the UECCO classroom, support classrooms, and an installation room, and two upper floors.
These upper floors will house the primary classrooms, computer classrooms, the teachers' lounge, music classrooms, and art classrooms, as well as a multipurpose room, classrooms for small groups, and a library. A second block with a ground floor is also planned for reception, the caretaker's office, the secretariat's offices, the principal's office, the head of studies, and parent support services. A third building will also house storage, playground restrooms, and gym changing rooms. The construction will be put out to tender next week and could begin in October.
CEIP Inspector Joan Capó is the most populated school in the Balearic Islands.
Vera emphasized the importance of responding to the educational needs of Felanitx and indicated that this new center will meet all demands. Furthermore, the Balearic Institute of Educational Infrastructure (IBISEC) has awarded the contract for the repair of the roofs and emergency stairs at the Felanitx Secondary School. This project, which will improve the school's functionality, has a budget of €860,123 and a four-month completion period. The transformation of the lobby into a flat, passable terrace will allow for the expansion of the preschool playground. Other centers are part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan, which is part of the government's "Islands in Transformation" initiative. In addition to the construction of the new preschool in Felanitx, the document, which includes some 300 actions over 10 years, also includes improvement actions at all preschools and primary schools in the municipality, improving access and the roofing of the sports court at the Reina Sofía Primary School, and expanding the dining hall at the s'Algar Primary School.
