PalmRepresentatives of the Platform for Democratic Memory called on the People's Party (PP) this Tuesday to stand in favor of the "human rights" of the victims of the Civil War and the Franco regime. Outside the Parliament, where the repeal of the Memory Law is being debated, the president of the organization, Miquel Rosselló, demanded that the PP reject Vox's demand. In this regard, he considered the elimination of the law to be proof that "organized fascism wants to return": "They will find us right there."

Rosselló recalled that this week there was a vandalism attack on the bust of Aurora Picornell, a journalist who was shot during the Civil War, in Molinar. "These people are the descendants of those who killed her," stated Rosselló, who recalled that in 1936 there was not "a confrontation between Spaniards" as, in his opinion, the right would have us believe, but rather "a coup d'état connected to Hitler and Mussolini."

The president of Memoria de Mallorca, Maria Antònia Oliver, stated that "if the PP is a democratic party, it must embrace this law," which was passed in 2018, during the term of Francina Armengol (PSIB). In fact, Oliver said she understood that the PP may want to modify some points of the law, but not eliminate it entirely. "There are PP voters who do not agree with this measure," she explained. Behind him, a dozen activists from the organization, accompanied by representatives of the PSIB and MÁS, displayed signs with slogans such as "You will not silence us" and "Yes to dignity and justice." They also wore T-shirts with images of Picornell and the phrase attributed to him: "With what bullets will you kill ideas?"
