PalmaThe left has demanded political accountability for the judicial processes in which the two main Vox officials in the Islands are immersed. But not only regarding the far right, but also the PP, which keeps Gabriel Le Senne and Pedro Bestard in the presidency of the Parliament and the second vice presidency of the Council of Mallorca even though they are awaiting trial. "The highest political responsibilities held by Vox in the Balearic Islands are immersed in judicial cases for alleged crimes during the exercise of their duties," lamented the spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia.
The eco-sovereigntist referred, on one hand, to the complaint that the Prosecutor's Office has filed against Bestard for allegedly having made private and improper use of the Council's official cars. But also to the trial against Le Senne for an alleged hate crime, which will not begin until October 25, 2027, when the regional elections have already passed. "We have a President of the Parliament who acted against the victims of fascism from a moral and political point of view," said Apesteguia, in reference to the moment in which he tore up a portrait of Aurora Picornell stuck to the computer of Mercedes Garrido (PSIB) in the middle of a parliamentary session. "We have a Vice President of the Council who took three cars, removed the screen printing, and used them privately, both he and his family," he continued. "We demand that Llorenç Galmés restore order," he insisted in reference to the President of the Council.
The PSIB spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, also commented on the issue, insisting that it is "unsustainable" for Le Senne to preside over the Chamber with a date set for an oral trial. "They themselves fully justify that what they have done is the correct thing," he lamented.
The PP postpones it until the verdict is known
As it already did when the public prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit against Le Senne, the PP has postponed making any decision regarding Bestard until the judicial sentences arrive. Galmés has said that he will act with "forcefulness" if irregularities are confirmed in the use of official cars by the vice president of the Council. In the same vein, the deputy spokesperson for the PP, Marga Durán, expressed herself in the same terms: "Once the sentence is obtained, the Council's government will act accordingly and with forcefulness".
"It amused me a lot that Apesteguia is calling for resignations, when his national deputy is experiencing the most scandalous corruption of a criminal organization from the PSOE and sending it from his seat," replied the Vox spokesperson, Manuela Cañadas. "The Prosecutor's Office, we already know who it depends on," she said in reference to the Spanish government.
