Prohens reminds Maragall in a rebuttal to the PSIB: "You have a problem and it's called 2%"
The president criticizes the socialists over the Cerdán case
PalmTwenty years ago, Catalan president Pasqual Maragall warned the then-leader of the opposition, Artur Mas, with a phrase that made history. "You have a problem, and that problem is called 3%," he said, accusing CiU of taking illegal commissions on public works contracts. Now, in the midst of the trial of former president Jordi Pujol in the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens has paraphrased Maragall in a response to the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands).
"You have a problem, and it's called 2%," the head of the Balearic government snapped during the question period. On this occasion, she was referring to the report by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, which indicates that the former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán, received 2% in illegal commissions on the contracts he secured for Acciona. Prohens criticized the spokesperson for the PSIB, Iago Negueruela, regarding the Cerdán case, which implicates the government of Francina Armengol because it purchased medical masks through the scheme, although no criminal proceedings have been initiated against members of the previous administration. She made these statements after the Socialist accused her of presiding over an unstable government and not "fighting for agreements."
Prohens considered it "very bold" for the PSIB to speak of stability after the conviction of the Attorney General and the "furious reaction" of the PSOE and the Spanish government, which, she said, is "trembling" over the implications of the Koldo case. "Half their parliamentary group has sent messages related to Koldo, and their party is mired in corruption cases," she said.
