Thus, next Monday, July 7, the day the law promoted by the PP and Vox is expected to be approved in Parliament, residents have called for a protest in front of Parliament at 11:00 a.m. "In the name of a housing emergency that is only used as an excuse, they are trying to pass a law secretly, disregarding our right to express our opinions, turning their backs on participation and the search for consensus," they denounced in a manifesto this Thursday.

In this regard, they denounced the bill's potential for increased building capacity and employability, authorizing densities of up to 225 inhabitants per hectare, and replacing social housing with "limited-price" housing, which will actually be 30% more expensive. Furthermore, they continue, "it reduces the need for green space and makes no provision for the expansion of basic public services—such as healthcare and education, which are already overcrowded today—nor for mobility or water."

"It represents a predatory, capitalist urban growth model that has been destroying Mallorca for decades and will now condemn the historic centers and neighborhoods surrounding the city to extinction as we know them," they lamented. The organizers also pointed out that the regulation does not improve residents' access to housing nor does it include any provision for healthcare or education services. Finally, they pointed out that it did not involve the participation or consensus of citizens and was developed "in complete opacity." Therefore, they demanded that the government reverse the project and urged it to commit to urban planning that serves to improve citizens' quality of life through mobility, sustainability, and social cohesion.
