The Governing Board approved the agreement between the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands (CAIB) and Palma City Council, which establishes the early termination of the contract for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Magdalena Rigo Central Fire Station. Therefore, these facilities will be transferred to municipal management, putting an end to "more than a decade of accumulated non-compliance and deficiencies," according to Palma City Council spokesperson and Councilor for Finance, Civil Service, and Government, Mercedes Celeste.

In 2006, Palma City Council transferred the land to the CAIB and signed a contract until 2039, which stipulated that the municipal institution would pay more than three million euros in annual rent for the use of the building. However, on June 4, the Cort (Spanish regional government) approved a long-term credit operation to recover the concession for the station and allocated 23 million euros for the CAIB to terminate the current contract with the company that had previously managed the station. Palma City Council's deputy spokesperson, Llorenç Bauzà, also announced that CAIB has already made the €23 million payment to terminate the operating contract early and end the proceedings pending before a Palma court.

Bauzà stated that the agreement is thus "satisfactorily" concluded for all three parties—the City Council, the Autonomous Community, and the investment fund that owns the facility—with a saving for the municipal coffers of up to €31 million, which can be used for other needs, compared to the €64 million that the CAIB owes for the building. "It's a more than necessary saving," he stated.
