PollençaA three-year-old British girl has died at Son Espases Hospital after drowning on Wednesday in a swimming pool at a holiday rental property in Pollença. The minor was resuscitated by emergency services and transferred in a very serious condition to the pediatric ICU, where she remained admitted until she finally died yesterday, Thursday, at noon.
The events took place during a moment of family oversight. According to initial information, the girl was left without direct supervision and, for reasons now being investigated by the Civil Guard, she fell into the swimming pool on the property on her own. It was her grandmother who found her in the water, motionless and floating.
The fact that the minor was found floating suggests that she might have spent some time in the pool before the family noticed, although it has not yet been revealed exactly how long she was in the water. Emergency services performed resuscitation maneuvers on her before transferring her to Son Espases.
The Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the event. According to the information gathered so far, there is no record that the holiday rental company has any responsibility for the accident.
